In a recording career that spans 35 years and five record labels (Capitol, Atlantic Jazz, Heads Up, 3 Keys, and now his own New Warrior Music, Bobby Lyle has covered a wide range of stylistic keyboard instrumental jazz. His 1990 release “The Journey” on Atlantic Jazz reached Number one on the Billboard jazz chart. His 2007 offering, “Straight and Smooth” is still the only project to simultaneously appear on Billboard’s Contemporary and traditional jazz charts. This latest project “The Way I Feel”, represents a “first” in that it is exclusively a Hammond B-3 organ project. It still however contains three elements that are consistent in all of Lyle’s projects: great songwriting (7 originals in this one), arranging, and dazzling keyboard execution. I’m sure all lovers of instrumental jazz will want to make “The Way I Feel” a part of their collection.
